Where does Northern Lights Index get these numbers?

Prices and tour details are read from the page that sells the product, which in this batch is Visit Tromsø or Visit Rovaniemi, and every row carries that URL and the date it was read. GetYourGuide and Viator refuse this reader at robots.txt and contribute nothing. Guide to Iceland serves us and lists multi-day packages with a markup-only price, which is neither an evening chase nor a figure we can check against its page, so it contributes nothing either. Dark hours are computed from solar position; the clear-sky share is observed sky cover from NOAA station records in the public domain. The methodology page names every source and its terms.

Do you earn money from the links?

We may earn a commission if you book through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. No affiliate programme is live yet, so today every link goes to the page the row was read from.

Why is a place missing?

A place is published once we can count at least 5 tours there. Smaller places wait until the list is more useful.

The photographs are from Wikimedia Commons file pages, and the licence named in each row is the one recorded on that page. The file this site serves is a resized WebP copy of the original; where a licence is share-alike, that copy carries the same licence as the original.

No photograph here was generated. A picture is only ever shown beside the place it was taken in, and a place with no photograph of its own gets a drawn plate instead.
