What this site stores, which is very little, and what it does not.

Northern Lights Index has not published any tours rows yet. The first check is pending, so nothing on this site is a measured figure.

A comparison page is published once we can count at least 5 tours on it.

Source and method.

This site has no reader accounts, no comments and no advertising network.

Page views are counted in aggregate by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookie and builds no profile. We see counts of pages and countries, not people.

Outbound booking links will run through a /go/ redirect so that clicks can be counted. That redirect stores the page a click came from, the position of the link on it, the country, the referring page, the network the request came from, and a short one-way hash of the browser’s user-agent string. It does not store an IP address and it cannot be tied back to a person.

If the alert list is ever opened, an address given to it is stored for that purpose only, is never sold or shared, and can be removed by writing to the address on the contact page.

No booking links are live yet, so no click has been recorded.

Questions

Where does Northern Lights Index get these numbers?

Nothing is sourced yet. When the first check runs, every row will carry the operator or marketplace listing it was read from and the date it was read. Clear-sky and dark-hours figures will be computed from public climate normals and from astronomy formulas, and the methodology page will name each source and its reuse terms.

Do you earn money from the links?

We may earn a commission if you book through links on this page, at no extra cost to you. No booking links are live yet.

Why is a place missing?

A place is published once we can count at least 5 tours there. Smaller places wait until the list is more useful.
