Northern Lights Index is a small, independent price index for aurora tours. It is run by a two-person editorial team working in Bogotá, and it is not owned by, funded by or affiliated with any tour operator or booking marketplace.
The site exists because the aurora-tour market is priced strangely. The same three hours under the same sky can cost two or three times as much from one operator as from another, and the difference is rarely the sky. It is the size of the vehicle, how far the driver will go, and whether you get a second night free when the clouds win.
Nothing on the site is measured yet. It is published as a plan: each page states the fields its table will carry, where each field will be read from, and how often it will be re-checked. Every page carries a robots noindex instruction and every sitemap is empty until that page’s rows exist. We would rather publish an honest empty shell than a page padded with zeroes.
We write in English, Spanish and French. The numbers behind every language are the same rows from the same checks, read on the same day.
