Aurora tours that promise a second night: every policy, in full

A tour that costs more but takes you out again for free can be the cheaper way to see the aurora. That only shows up once the policies are written down next to the prices.

No policy has been transcribed yet, and the derived cost-per-sighting figure has no inputs.

The derived figure is clearly ours and not an operator claim. Its formula and its uncertainty will be stated on the methodology page before it is published.

Source and method.

The word guarantee does a lot of work in aurora marketing and almost never means a refund. Sometimes it is a free second night, sometimes only if the tour is cancelled by the operator, sometimes only within the same trip, sometimes only if you ask within 24 hours.

This page will quote each rule in the operator’s own words, then put a single derived figure beside it: the price divided by the chance that a night under that policy ends in a sighting. That figure is ours, its method will be on the methodology page, and it will not appear until both of its inputs exist.

What this page will hold

Nothing on this page is measured yet. These are the fields we will check, where each one comes from, and how often it gets re-checked. No number is published until the first check is done.

Questions

Why does this page have no prices?

Because we have not collected them. The site is published as a plan so the shape of the dataset can be reviewed before any figure appears. Every page is noindex until its rows exist.

Is a guaranteed tour worth the extra money?

Sometimes. A more expensive tour with free retries beats a cheap single-shot tour whenever the odds on any one night are low enough, which is most nights at most bases. The point of this page is to replace that sentence with a number.

Do you earn money from the links?

We may, once a programme is live. No booking link on this site is live today, and no programme we join changes which operators are listed or how they are ordered.
